A day trip to Wells!

September 05, 2015

I haven't shared any lifestyle posts recently, so thought it was about time to share another day trip with you- this time to Wells in Somerset.
We arrived in Wells around lunchtime, so we had a look in all the windows of the cafes and restaurants until we came across a cosy little place called the Square Edge cafe. It originally was part of someones house that they converted, and I love the face that it is family run. The staff were really friendly and the food was so good, I opted for the mushroom and truffle infused mac and cheese and my dad had a pulled beef burger with home cooked wedges and coleslaw. It was really delicious, but unfortunately we were too full to sample some of the local cakes (too full for cake? That doesn't usually happen!).  As for drinks, I tried the Elderflower Sparkle which was a mix elderflower, apple, cucumber, mint and lemonade- and yes, it was just as amazing as it sounds!
After that, we explored around the town and went shopping, exploring pretty shops such as Poppy Greens and The Good Earth, which my dad used to visit and buy licorice when he went to school in Wells. We also did a round of all the charity shops where I found the dress in my previous post, then a River Island camo jacket and a party dress, each £1 in a charity sale. My dad also picked up a couple of books- one of them even had his school photos in from when he was about 10!
By the time we'd come to the last few shops it was near closing time so we headed back to the car, which wasn't a plain walk at all because we were surrounded by amazing architecture. It's definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the south west and fancy a quintessentially English day out!
Have you been on any day trips recently?
